چکیده

The classical nonlinear oscillator (NO) model has been reported to result in more natural-sounding speech than traditional linear methods. In this paper, we investigate the application of a novel class of oscillator models called Interval Domain (ID) models to speech. Unlike the classical NO model, ID models have compact representations that can describe a wide range of linear and nonlinear signals with only a limited number of parameters. We show that low-order ID models sufficiently describe certain nonlinear behaviors, such as quadratic phase coupling. The relationship between model parameters and fundamental frequency is also explored. Pitch estimates can be obtained from ID models at very low signal-to-noise ratios, suggesting that this relationship is fairly robust. Finally, we demonstrate that these models are capable of preserving the fundamental frequency and waveform morphology of speech. The spectral envelope, however, is not always retained. All experiments are conducted using sentences from the TIMIT database.

Experimental Investigation of Metal Powder Compaction without Using Lubricant

The main objective of this work was to design a novel device for compaction of metal powders so that the green parts could be ejected with applying a negligible force and without the need for any lubricant in either an admixed form or applied to the die wall. For this purpose a 40 mm diameter one-piece die was envisaged which would elastically contracted 0.076 mm before compaction and after com...

A Class of compact operators on homogeneous spaces

Let  $varpi$ be a representation of the homogeneous space $G/H$, where $G$ be a locally compact group and  $H$ be a compact subgroup of $G$. For  an admissible wavelet $zeta$ for $varpi$  and $psi in L^p(G/H), 1leq p <infty$, we determine a class of bounded  compact operators  which are related to continuous wavelet transforms on homogeneous spaces and they are called localization operators.

A Novel Frequency Domain Linearly Constrained Minimum Variance Filter for Speech Enhancement

A reliable speech enhancement method is important for speech applications as a pre-processing step to improve their overall performance. In this paper, we propose a novel frequency domain method for single channel speech enhancement. Conventional frequency domain methods usually neglect the correlation between neighboring time-frequency components of the signals. In the proposed method, we take...

A Current-Mode Single-Resistance-Controlled Oscillator Employing VDCC and All Grounded Passive Elements

Realization of a novel single-resistance-controlled oscillator, employing an active element and all grounded passive elements, is the purpose of this manuscript. With requirements for completing the design being only a single Voltage Differencing Current Conveyor and four grounded passive components, it is also a preferable choice for integrated circuit implementation. The designed circuit has ...
